Toyota Tacoma side curtain air bag recalled for improper deployment risk

Certain side curtain air bag assemblies sold as replacement parts for 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma vehicles may not be properly secured to their mounting bracket. This can cause the air bag to deploy incorrectly during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Description: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain side curtain air bag (CSA) assemblies sold as replacement parts for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma vehicles. The side curtain air bag may have been improperly secured to its mounting bracket, causing an improper air bag deployment. Improper air bag deployment can increase the risk of injury during a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the CSA assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed September 28, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated by Quarter 4 of 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TK02 and 26TH02.
