Toyota Tacoma side curtain air bag recalled for improper deployment risk
What this means
Certain side curtain air bag assemblies sold as replacement parts for 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma vehicles may not be properly secured to their mounting bracket. This can cause the air bag to deploy incorrectly during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 or wait for an owner notification letter (expected September 13, 2026).
- Bring your Tacoma to a Toyota dealer for a free inspection and replacement of the air bag assembly if needed.
- Reference Toyota recall numbers 26TK02 or 26TH02 when you contact the dealer.
The agency's original wording
