Thomas Built SAF-T-LINER school buses recalled for missing seat belt anchor connector plates and weak body joints
What this means
Certain 2027 Thomas Built SAF-T-LINER HDX2 and EFX2school buses may have missing connector plates on the driver's seat belt anchor and interior body joints. These missing parts reduce structural strength and could prevent the seat belt from properly restraining the driver in a crash.
- Check your owner notification letter (expected October 23, 2026) or contact Daimler Trucks at 1-800-574-0712 to confirm if your bus is affected.
- Dealers will inspect and replace the missing connector plates at no charge.
The agency's original wording
A seat belt anchor with a missing connector plate may fail to properly restrain the driver and insufficient joint strength may not adequately protect passengers, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Dealers will inspect and replace the header connectors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 23, 2026. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-574-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is F1038.
