Forest River transit buses recalled for wheelchair lift control failure risk
What this means
Certain 2024 and 2025 Forest River transit buses have wheelchair lifts equipped with electrical contactors that may fail. If a contactor fails, the lift controls cannot stop the lift while it is moving with a passenger on board, increasing injury risk.
- Check your owner notification letter (expected by October 10, 2026) or contact Forest River at 1-800-348-7440 to confirm if your bus is affected.
- Do not use the wheelchair lift if you notice it does not stop on command.
- Take your bus to a dealer for free corrective wiring work (installation of two diodes) as soon as notification is received.
The agency's original wording
A wheelchair lift that continues to move while occupied increases the risk of injury.
Dealers will correct the wiring by installing two diodes, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 10, 2026. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-2093.
