Ford F-150 (2023–2027) recalled for fuel tank detachment and leak risk
What this means
Certain 2023–2027 Ford F-150 trucks may have fuel tanks that are improperly secured. The tank can leak fuel or detach while driving, which could cause the engine to stall, create a road hazard, or increase the risk of fire.
- Check if your vehicle is affected by searching your VIN on NHTSA.gov starting September 14, 2026.
- Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or wait for an owner notification letter.
- Take your truck to a Ford dealer to have the fuel tank straps inspected and replaced for free.
The agency's original wording
A detached tank can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, a fuel leak can cause an engine stall or increase the risk of a fire.
Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel tank straps, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 21, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S69. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 14, 2026.
