Ford Mustang Mach-E recalled for battery control software causing power loss and fire risk

What this means

Certain 2023–2025 Mustang Mach-E vehicles that received a new battery control module during a prior repair may have faulty software. This can cause the battery display to show incorrect charge levels and increase the risk of high-voltage battery fire after repeated fast charging.

  • Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov to see if your vehicle is affected.
  • Wait for a recall letter from Ford (expected December 2026) with instructions for the free software update.
  • Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 if you have questions.
