Freightliner Cascadia and Western Star 49X recalled for brake modulator valve corrosion
What this means
Certain 2020–2023 Freightliner Cascadia and 2022 Western Star 49X trucks may have brake modulator valves that corrode, causing the brakes to pull to one side during electronic stability or roll stability control activation. This sudden pull can change the vehicle's direction and increase crash risk.
- Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) against NHTSA's recall list or contact Daimler Trucks customer service at 1-800-547-0712.
- If your truck was previously repaired under recall 23V073 or 22V817, you will need the new brake modulator valve replacement.
- Dealers will replace the valves at no charge. Owner notification letters will be mailed November 8, 2026.
