Rivian R1S, R1T, and R2 recalled for obstructed rearview camera image
What this means
Certain 2022–2027 Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles, and 2027 R2 models, may display a notification on the rearview camera screen when in reverse, blocking the driver's view behind the vehicle. This obstruction can reduce visibility and increase crash risk.
- Check if your vehicle is affected using your VIN on NHTSA.gov starting November 9, 2026.
- Rivian will send an owner notification letter in the mail.
- Install the free over-the-air software update when available.
- Contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261 with questions (recall number FSAM-1866).

An obstructed rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Rivian has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 9, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1866. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on November 9, 2026.
