Rivian R2 recalled for improperly tightened high voltage fastener causing loss of drive power

Certain 2027 Rivian R2 vehicles have a high voltage battery fastener that may not have been tightened properly during manufacturing. This can cause a sudden loss of drive power while driving, which increases the risk of a crash.
- Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov starting November 28, 2026, to see if your R2 is affected.
- Contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261 or reference recall number FSAM-1888.
- Rivian will inspect, repair, or replace components free of charge once your owner notification letter arrives.

Rivian will inspect and repair the connection or replace damaged components as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 28, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1888. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on November 28, 2026.
