OTHERNationwide distribution
Stop using affected da Vinci grasping retractors
Intuitive Surgical has recalled certain da Vinci S and Si Grasping Retractor instruments (Model 420278) due to reports of broken or frayed grip cables. The cables transmit motion from the surgeon's controls to the instrument tip during minimally invasive surgery. A cable failure could affect the surgeon's ability to control the instrument during a procedure.
- If your facility uses da Vinci S or Si Grasping Retractors, check the batch/lot numbers against the FDA notice
- Do not use affected instruments until you receive replacement instructions from Intuitive Surgical
- Contact your hospital's medical device or surgical team lead immediately if you have affected units
- Report any cable failures or safety incidents to the FDA MedWatch program
Hazard
Due to increased complaints for broken/frayed grip cables for reusable instruments.
