Chrysler MOPAR roof rack kits recalled for detaching crossbars
What this means
Certain Chrysler MOPAR roof rack kits have pivot bolts that may not have been tightened properly during manufacturing. The roof rack crossbars can detach while driving, creating a hazard on the road.
- Check if you own one of the affected roof rack kits (part numbers 68747056AA, 68529228AA, 68529228AB, 68442426AA, 68442426AB, or 68442426AC).
- Contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or reference recall number 82D.
- An interim notification letter will be mailed October 8, 2026. A second letter with final repair instructions will follow.
- Dealers will replace the pivot bolts free of charge once parts are available.

Detached roof rack crossbars can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the roof rack crossbar pivot bolts, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed October 8, 2026. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 82D.
