Blue Bird Vision school buses recalled for wheelchair lift control failure risk
What this means
Certain 2025–2027 Blue Bird Vision school buses have a wheelchair lift that may continue moving even when the operator tries to stop it. This happens because an electrical part can fail, leaving the lift unresponsive to controls. A moving lift with a passenger on it creates a risk of injury.
- If you own or operate one of these buses, contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 to confirm your bus is affected.
- Do not use the wheelchair lift until it has been inspected and repaired.
- Watch for an owner notification letter arriving around October 30, 2026.
- Dealers will install a repair (two diodes) at no charge.
The agency's original wording
A wheelchair lift that continues to move while occupied increases the risk of injury.
Dealers will correct the wiring by installing two diodes, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 30, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R26AH.
