Mack Trucks 2026–2027 Anthem and Pioneer recalled for braking software error
What this means
Certain 2026–2027 Mack Anthem and Pioneer trucks with tanker packages have a software error that miscalculates axle load. This can reduce braking performance, especially when towing smoothbore tanker trailers, making the truck require a longer distance to stop.
- Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) at NHTSA.gov starting October 5, 2026, to see if your truck is affected.
- Watch for an owner notification letter from Mack, expected by November 27, 2026.
- Contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 to schedule a dealer appointment for the free software update.
- Refer to Mack recall number SC0500 when contacting dealers or customer service.
