New Flyer buses recalled for hazard indicator light not displaying on instrument panel
What this means
Certain 2013–2027 New Flyer buses have an instrument panel indicator light that may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights are on. Without this visual reminder, drivers might forget to turn off the exterior lights, leaving hazard lights active and potentially confusing other drivers.
- If you operate a New Flyer bus, watch for an owner notification letter expected to arrive November 20, 2026.
- Contact New Flyer customer service at 1-800-241-2947 to confirm your bus is affected and schedule a free software update.
- Do not ignore the recall—the software update is simple and will restore the safety indicator.
The agency's original wording
Without the illuminated reminder, the driver may fail to turn off the exterior lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
New Flyer will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 20, 2026. Owners may contact New Flyer's customer service at 1-800-241-2947.
