Baxter TruSystem 7000 U operating table recalled for lift drop risk

Baxter is recalling TruSystem 7000 U (dV) operating tables, model 1723633, because the main lift may unexpectedly drop from its set position to its lowest position during use, and the tabletop may not be raisable again afterward. The issue has been associated with unexpected wear of the telescopic spindle. An uncontrolled drop may cause abrupt patient displacement during surgery, which may lead to traumatic injury or airway compromise. Baxter has received three complaints and no patient injuries have been reported.
