I.T.S. GmbH has recalled certain plates and screws used in pelvic reconstruction surgery because new testing shows they may heat up more than expected during MRI scans under certain conditions. This was not fully described in the original instructions. No injuries have been reported.
- If you have received this implant, contact your surgeon or hospital to confirm which specific product you have using the article number.
- Before any MRI scan, inform your healthcare provider of your implant and ask about MRI safety for your specific model.
- Ask your doctor whether MRI is safe for you or if alternative imaging is needed.
Hazard
Updated MRI safety testing demonstrates higher RF-induced temperature increases under certain MRI conditions than previously reflected in the Instructions for Use (IFU).
