Arrow International PICC kits recalled for potentially ineffective anesthetic and contaminated injectable components
Arrow International PICC kits recalled for contaminated anesthetic components
Arrow International included lidocaine, bupivacaine, and saline solution from a supplier with quality issues in multiple PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) kit models. The supplier's products may be ineffective or contaminated, and compromised sterility in injectable products can cause serious infection or injury.
- Check if you have any affected Arrow International PICC kits by matching the product reference numbers and lot numbers provided in the recall notice.
- Do not use affected kits. Contact your healthcare provider or facility immediately if you have already received care with a recalled kit.
- Return unused kits to Arrow International or your supplier.
Lidocaine, Bupivacaine, and 0.9% sodium chloride, the subject of a supplier recall, were included into kits and sets. The supplier was found to have quality issues and limited reports of drug ineffectiveness, and if sterility of a water-based injectable product is compromised this could lead to serious or life-threatening injuries.
