Arrow International PSI and MAC catheter kits recalled for compromised sterility and drug ineffectiveness
Arrow International catheter kits recalled for sterility concerns
Arrow International recalled multiple PSI and MAC catheter kits because they contain lidocaine, bupivacaine, and saline from a supplier with quality issues. The supplier's products may not be sterile, and there have been limited reports that the medications did not work as expected. If the sterility of these injectable products is compromised, patients could experience serious or life-threatening infections.
- If you have received any of the affected kits, stop using them immediately and contact your healthcare provider or hospital pharmacy.
- Check the product reference number (ASK- or CDC-) and lot number on your kit against the FDA recall list.
- Return the kits to your supplier or pharmacy for proper disposal and replacement.
Lidocaine, Bupivacaine, and 0.9% sodium chloride, the subject of a supplier recall, were included into kits and sets. The supplier was found to have quality issues and limited reports of drug ineffectiveness, and if sterility of a water-based injectable product is compromised this could lead to serious or life-threatening injuries.
