Arrow International catheter kits recalled for sterility risk
Arrow International included injectable anesthetic and saline solutions from a supplier with quality issues in multiple central venous catheter kits and trays. The supplier's products may not be sterile or may not work as intended. If sterility is compromised, these injectable products could cause serious infection or other life-threatening complications.
- Stop using affected Arrow International PSI and MAC catheter kits immediately.
- Contact your hospital or clinic's medical device or procurement department to identify whether you have affected lots.
- Do not use the injectable lidocaine, bupivacaine, or saline from these kits.
- Return affected kits to Arrow International or your supplier for a replacement.
Hazard
Lidocaine, Bupivacaine, and 0.9% sodium chloride, the subject of a supplier recall, were included into kits and sets. The supplier was found to have quality issues and limited reports of drug ineffectiveness, and if sterility of a water-based injectable product is compromised this could lead to serious or life-threatening injuries.
