Arrow International catheter kits recalled for drug quality issues
Arrow International included lidocaine, bupivacaine, and saline solutions from a supplier with documented quality problems in multiple arterial catheter kits and sets. The supplier's medications showed signs of ineffectiveness, and if sterility was compromised, the kits could cause serious injury when used.
- Check if your facility has any of the affected Arrow International catheter kits listed in this recall.
- Stop using affected lots immediately and quarantine them.
- Contact your supplier or Arrow International for instructions on replacement or disposal.
- Review patient records if any affected kits were used and consult your medical team.
Hazard
Lidocaine, Bupivacaine, and 0.9% sodium chloride, the subject of a supplier recall, were included into kits and sets. The supplier was found to have quality issues and limited reports of drug ineffectiveness, and if sterility of a water-based injectable product is compromised this could lead to serious or life-threatening injuries.
