Great Value cottage cheese recalled for possible under-pasteurization

Saputo Cheese USA is recalling Great Value Fat Free Cottage Cheese (24 oz tubs) because a broken seal on the pasteurizer may have allowed the product to be under-pasteurized. Under-pasteurized dairy products can contain harmful bacteria. The affected products were distributed to Walmart stores in 11 states.

What to do

  1. Check your refrigerator for Great Value Fat Free Cottage Cheese with Best If Used By dates of APR-01-26 or APR-03-26 and Lot #06-71.
  2. Do not eat the product. Throw it away or return it to Walmart for a refund.
  3. If you or a family member consumed this product and develop symptoms like diarrhea, fever, or abdominal pain, contact your doctor.

Saputo is recalling five Clover Sonoma and Great Value products, including cottage cheese and sour cream, that may not have been fully pasteurized. The California Department of Agriculture found a broken seal on a pasteurizer, which may have affected these products. The products were shipped to stores in AL, AZ, CA, IL, MO, MS, NM, NV, UT, WA and WY, and no illnesses have been reported.
