Land Rover Range Rover recalled for rearview camera water damage risk
What this means
Water may accumulate in the rearview camera on certain 2022–2026 Range Rover vehicles because the tailgate trim lacks sufficient drain holes. If the camera is damaged, it may stop displaying an image, reducing the driver's view behind the vehicle and increasing crash risk.
- Check your mailbox for a recall notice from Land Rover (expected December 11, 2026).
- Contact Land Rover customer service at 800-637-6837 or reference recall D171 to schedule a free repair.
- Dealers will drill additional drain holes and inspect or replace the rearview camera if needed.
The agency's original wording
A rearview camera image that does not display can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will drill additional drain holes in the underside of the tailgate trim. Additionally, dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed December 11, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Land Rover's customer service at 800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is D171.
